The First (Universal Group) Archery Championship

Universal Group of Companies believes that a healthy mind starts with a healthy body. Therefore, we always advocate that practicing sports in all forms generally maintains health and supports mental and psychological well-being specifically. With this in mind, Universal Group sponsored the first Archery Championship held in Sana’a, organized by the Yemen Archery Federation under the supervision of the Youth and Sports Office. More than 70 males and females participated across four categories: Men, Women, Junior (Under 17), and Youth (Under 21).

The championship took place over four days, at Al Sabeen Amusement Park. Formal training began on Thursday, February 29th, 2024 with competition days on Saturday, March 2nd to Monday, March 4th, 2024. Players competed according to the international archery standards at 18-meter distances, and the championship was judged by nationally certified referees.

Several employees of Universal Group of Companies together with their children participated in the event. The top three competitors in each category were honored. with Nasser Ahmed Al-Siyaghi, Amjad Ebrahim Al-Wasie, and Ebtesam Ahmed winning first place, while Elias Hayel, Kamal Abdulrakeeb Al-Allali, and Hind Sharaf Al-Deen won second place, and Ahmed Abdulkareem Haiel, Ahmed Rajab Al-Ezzi, and Afnan Al-Ashool won third place.

This championship marks an important step in developing archery sport in Yemen by nurturing talent and encouraging engagement in this ancient, exciting sport. In turn, Universal Group represented by Miss, Maha Shamsan, the G. M. Assistant, and Miss, Fanya Al Ansi, Vice HR GM of the Group, expressed their happiness in supporting this meaningful athletic event, commending displayed skill and competition.
